Rebeca will give a talk at the Royal Northern College of Music Research Forum on African Pianism and the Schools of African Art Music.
This study focuses on African Pianism, a concept coined by the composers of the Schools of African Art Music, highlighting the prominent African composers and the very different cultures and musical traditions reflected in piano works written in a Western style. The research emphasises the work of The African Concert Series as the world's first ever platform for curating and developing the African classical repertoire.

Dr. Rebeca Omordia presents African Pianism, a musical tapestry of works from all over the African continent described by The Guardian as "wild and shimmering piano gems", highlighting the depth and diversity of African classical music, and how pioneering this repertoire has lead her to launch the world's first ever African Concert Series resident at Wigmore Hall.
Rebeca performs African Pianism at Cayman Arts Festival and introduces the African Concert Series programmes to the Cayman Islands audience alongside colleagues double bassist Leon Bosch and percussionist Richard Olatunde Baker.
